Kogi East Neighbourhood Watch Honours Traditional Ruler, Others for Contributions to Security

The Kogi East Neighbourhood Watch has honoured individuals who have made significant contributions to peace and security in the region, presenting them with awards at its 2026 Annual Conference in Dekina, Kogi State.

The conference, held on August 29, 2026, brought together community leaders, security stakeholders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders committed to strengthening grassroots security across Kogi East.

Among those recognised was the Onu Abocho, His Royal Highness Okai Jonah Idrisu, who was honoured for his contributions to security and community development in the area.

The award was received on his behalf by the Onojomi of Emewe Opada, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdullahi Acheneje Onogwu, who represented the traditional ruler at the event.

Recipients were commended for their dedication to the safety and wellbeing of their communities.

The recognition underscores the growing importance of traditional institutions and community-based security initiatives in complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property.

The Kogi East Neighbourhood Watch used the occasion to celebrate individuals whose commitment and interventions have helped promote safer communities and strengthen cooperation among residents and security stakeholders.

Participants at the conference also stressed the need for sustained collaboration between communities, traditional institutions, neighbourhood watch groups and formal security agencies to effectively address emerging security challenges across Kogi East.
