Ndume apologizes to APC for Anti-Tinubu remark

The immediate past chief whip of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume has publicly apologized to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his remarks on a live television program, which led to his removal as chief whip.

Ndume, addressed journalists after a two-hour closed-door meeting with the National Working Committee of the party at its secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said, “Yesterday I was invited by the party, and here I am to discuss family matters. Actually, the national chairman is not just a chairman to me but also a father.”

He acknowledged that he should have spoken to the party before making his remarks, saying, “I accepted the mistake of not talking to the party as a last point, and I told the party that all my observations as a senior member of the family should have terminated or ended with the party.”

When asked if he plans to apologize to President Tinubu and the Senate, Ndume replied, “The President and the Senate have nothing to do with this. The President did not take offense. I didn’t insult the President or say anything against the party.”

APC is the father of everybody

APC National Chairman, Ganduje, expressed satisfaction with Ndume’s apology, saying, “We are quite satisfied with his apology.

As he said, we invited him. As a party, the APC is the father of everybody.” Ganduje also disclosed that the party plans to write to the Senate leadership to reconsider its stance on Ndume’s removal as chief whip, with a view to reinstating him.
