NASRDA Unveils Plan to Make Nigeria Space Economy Giant

The National Space Research and Development Agency has reteirated its efforts to position Nigeria as a key player in the global space economy.

This was revealed in a statement by Director, Media and Corporate Communications at NASRDA, Dr Felix Ale on Friday.

According to the statement, this commitment was reaffirmed by the agency’s Director General, Matthew Adepoju during his recent engagements at the 79th United Nations General Assembly and the Nigerian Assocation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture – Global Alliance Business Association international conference in Michigan.

The statement noted that Adepoju articulated a forward-thinking agenda that emphasised the importance of Nigeria’s space programme not just as a participant but as a leader in research, exploration, and technological innovation.

“Our goal is to ensure that Nigeria’s space capabilities are recognised on the world stage,” he stated.

He emphasised the critical need for strategic partnerships, saying, “We must foster collaborations with global space agencies to enhance our satellite capabilities and technological infrastructure.”

Ale highlighted NASRDAR’s focus Under the current leadership of the agency: enhancing satellite capabilities, expanding international collaborations, and leveraging space science for national development.

The statement noted, “Dr. Adepoju has left no stone unturned in his pursuit of excellence, ensuring NASRDA secures the necessary resources and recognition to propel the agency forward.”

Ale added that Adepoju’s extensive networking efforts have positioned NASRDA for substantial growth and influence.

“The relationships we build today will pave the way for tomorrow’s advancements in space science,” he said, reflecting on the importance of high-level connections made during his recent international engagements.

He stated that the emphasis on collaboration and teamwork is central to Adepoju’s leadership style and added that the success of NASRDA will stem from a unified effort among staff and partners.

“Innovation and progress thrive in an environment built on collaboration and inclusivity,” Ale he remarked.

“As Nigeria commemorates its independence anniversary, Adepoju’s vision for the nation’s space economy signifies a transformative approach to harnessing space technology for national development,” he added.

He emphasised that with the support of the government, international partners, and a dedicated team, NASRDA is poised to make significant strides in the evolving global space landscape.

“We are on the brink of a new era for Nigeria’s space agency. Together, we will ensure our nation stands out in the global space economy,” the DG said.
