CODE Names Kunle Babs Global Advocacy Lead

Connected Development (CODE) has announced the appointment of Kunle Babs as its new Chief Consultant, Global Communications and Advocacy, a strategic move aimed at amplifying the organization’s international advocacy and media engagement efforts.
Babs, a Video Journalist, Multimedia Producer, and Strategic Communications Specialist, brings nearly 15 years of global experience to the role. His career spans top international media platforms including Agence France Presse (AFP), China Global Television Network (CGTN), France 24, Channel News Asia (CNA), Canada Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), DD India, and Deutsche Welle (DW).
“Kunle brings creativity, professionalism, and a deep understanding of development issues, which aligns perfectly with CODE’s vision,” said Hamzat Lawal, Chief Executive of CODE.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kunle to the team. His expertise in global communications and storytelling will play a vital role in scaling our impact,” he added.
This appointment is not Kunle’s first engagement with CODE. Over the years, he has collaborated with the organization as a trainer and media consultant.
Notably, he has produced documentaries on CODE’s Follow The Money healthcare campaign, including the award-winning DW feature, Fighting Eco-Corruption in Nigeria. He also participated in CODE’s international observation mission during the 2024 U.S. Presidential election.
In his new position, Kunle will lead CODE’s global communication strategies, manage media relations, and drive strategic advocacy campaigns.
His mandate includes strengthening the organization’s visibility and influence across Africa and on the international stage.
“I have known and worked closely with Kunle for nearly a decade,” Lawal added. “His passion, commitment, and exceptional storytelling skills continue to inspire me. I trust his craft completely and believe he will be instrumental in elevating CODE’s advocacy efforts to new heights.”
With Kunle Babs at the helm of its global communications, CODE aims to deepen its impact and further position itself as a leading voice in grassroots development advocacy.
