Yobe: Rescued Christian Girl Vomits Concoctions in Church, Centre Issues Ultimatum

By Emmanuel Kwada

A disturbing report has emerged from Damaturu, Yobe State capital, Northeast Nigeria, revealing that a rescued underage Christian girl, abducted and converted to Islam by a group linked to the Islamic Religious Affairs ministry, vomited concoctions in church.

According to a statement by the Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity in Nigeria, the girl, Rejoice Markus, was rescued from the Damaturu Emir’s palace and taken to the Anglican Church for deliverance, where she vomited “satanic concoctions” administered to her through her mouth and private parts.

The Centre’s Director General, Rev. Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, alleged that the victims’ placentas are used for rituals. The Anglican Church Bishop and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman in Yobe State, Bishop Audu Yohanna, confirmed that the girl vomited in the church office during prayers.

The Centre has given an ultimatum to the abductors to release all other captives, as 30 cases of abductees are currently with the police, according to CAN. The incident highlights the ongoing injustices and iniquities faced by less privileged Nigerians, particularly in the Northeast region.

The two victims identified as Veronica Mathias Bayaro and Cecilia Mathias Bayaro, 16, were allegedly abducted by Islamic Religion Affairs in Damaturu. “I laid hands on her in my Church office where she vomited, but I didn’t take a shot of it,” the Bishop stated on a phone call.

Rev. Dikwa alleged that Muslims are using the placentas of underage Christian girls who were forcibly converted to Islam for ritual purposes. “When we rescued Rejoice Markus, one of the abducted Christian girls from the Damaturu Emir’s palace and took her to the Church in Anglican for deliverance, she was vomiting all the Islamic satanic concoction given to her through her mouth and private parts.”

Elizabeth Bitrus, Deborah Yusuf, Damarin Paul, Linda Usman, and three others are experiencing the same thing. Right now, we received information that Cecilia Mathias is uncomfortable and unhappy with the attitude of her keeper at the Damaturu Emir’s palace because they have been treating her badly.

“She does not have freedom of herself; they have been monitoring and controlling her not to escape by herself or to be rescued by others, just like one of the underage abducted Christian girls, Faith Timothy, who escaped from the Emir’s palace and reunited with her parents.”

The statement entitled “Injustice and impunity: The Failure of Authorities to Address the Abduction of Christian Girls in Northern Nigeria” stated reasons for the escalation of the menace in Northern Nigeria. “The reason why Muslim Ummah and Islam are progressing in northern Nigeria is because they are working together in unity and standing for Islam with one voice for the promotion of Islam through Jihad in many ways to achieve their aims for the progress of Islam in the northern region.”

” Muslim youths, Muslim politicians, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars and marabout Mallams are working together in different ways in abducting underage Christian girls, forcefully converting and marrying them off to Muslim youths.”

“The Muslims are using the placentas of underage Christian girls converted to Islam for rituals. When we rescued Rejoice Markus, one of the abducted Christian girls from the Damaturu Emir’s palace and took her to the Church Anglican Communion for deliverance, she was vomiting all the Islamic satanic concoction given to her through her mouth and private parts.”

“She does not have freedom of herself; they have been monitoring and controlling her not to escape by herself or to be rescued by others, just like one of the underage abducted Christian girls, Faith Timothy, who escaped from the Emir’s palace and reunited with her parents.”

According to the statement, Faith Timothy is an indigene of Kaduna State, staying with her uncle, a Police officer attached to the Deputy Governor of Yobe State. When Faith Timothy was abducted, her uncle, a police officer, reported the abduction to the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, stating that his sister was taken by the Emir and the Islamic group’s chairman.

“The Commissioner of Police responded to the officer, ‘Do you want me to go and rescue your sister from the Emir’s palace or what?'”

“We notice that the Federal government is backing the Northern Muslim youths, politicians, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars to continue abducting our underage Christian daughters, forcing them to Islam, and marrying them forcefully.”

“We are therefore calling on President Bola Tinubu to admonish Northern Muslim youths, politicians, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars tostop further abduction of underage Christian girls, forcefully converting them to Islam, and marrying them against their will.

“We also call on Mr. President to order the Committee Chairman on the abduction of underage Christian girls, Chairman Islamic Sharia terrorist Jihad committee, Emir of Damaturu, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni to release all the abducted Christian girls to their parents before it is too late.

“We will not continue to allow the Muslims from the north to take our patience for granted and continue to think that Christians from the north are slaves to Muslims in the north. We are giving them 48 hours to release the girls, failure to do so will cause us to organize our Christian youths to take action.

We will not continue to allow the Muslims from the north to take our patience for granted

“What the Muslims from the north are doing to Christians by abducting underage Christian girls, if the reverse was the case, there would have been war in this country before now because the Islamic scholars will start preaching incitement and brainwashing their followers to attack and kill Christians.

“It’s not that the Christians can’t abduct Muslim girls and convert them to Christianity, but Christians are law-abiding citizens of their dear country and have a principle of worshiping God that nobody can help God in the name of promoting their religion with criminality; this is the belief of Christians, as this is not good before God, but it seems the Muslim governors, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars are taking advantage of our patience, quietness, and principle of obeying God our creator whom we worship.

“They continue to abduct our underage daughters illegally, harassing, intimidating, and terrorizing us by doing so. Be informed that we are going to take action even if it means risking our lives, provided the Federal Government refuses to follow due process in stopping these governors, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars from abducting our daughters.”

Contacted, CAN Secretary in Yobe State, Rev. Ibrahim Kure Abagu, of ECWA Church, said he had been informed of 30 cases of abducted Christian girls being handled by the police. He confirmed that he was aware of the case of Rejoice Markus and several other abducted Christian girls by a women’s group operating under the guise of the ‘Ministry of Islamic Religious Affairs’, noting that no non-Muslims are employed or work in the ministry.

“I know the case of Rejoice; I’m aware of her case. Timothy Faith was one that we were at Emirs palace. We had two cases we had followed up and down to the ministry of religious affairs and to Emirs palace, last year 2023.

“Rejoice was one of them, and Faith too. That of Faith, we were at Emirs palace when they brought her out to see us because they said that they’ll release that one (Rejoice) because she was a minor.

“The case of Faith was not accepted on the grounds that Islamically, she has the freedom to choose her religion. Even when they brought her out to see us and asked her in our presence, the mother grabbed her and wanted to take her away, but they overpowered the mother and took the girl back to the Emir’s palace.

This happened before my eyes, as I was present. This was not the first time we went to the Emir’s palace on behalf of that girl; we went twice before they finally brought her out that day, Faith Timothy, a girl from Kaduna living with her aunt in Yobe State.

“Even though she said in our presence that it was her decision to become a Muslim, they had taken her away by force before. She was happy when the mother grabbed her, but they overpowered the mother and took her away. We were told that women were responsible for taking her to the Ministry of Religious Affairs when she was abducted. Before we got the news, the mother was going there to meet them and talk to them about releasing her daughter, but they didn’t until we intervened and went to the Emir’s palace.

“Some women abducted her, but I don’t know who they are or their identity. However, they abducted her and took her to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The entire ministry does not allow any Christians to work there. We often refer to it as the Ministry of Islamic Affairs because we believe that if it’s a Ministry of Religious Affairs, they should recognize other religions in the state to represent both. At least, there should be desk officers for both. But nothing like that exists.

But all the lawyers are Muslims.

I don’t think there are any Christian women among the abductors either. They usually bring some lawyers to meetings, including the meeting we had concerning the abduction, but all the lawyers are Muslims.

“The police said they’re helpless because when we engaged them in this discussion, we went as far as the Government House, where we met with the Chief Security Officer of the Governor. We also went to the DSS Director, but didn’t get any help to rescue the girls. I personally wrote a letter of complaint, as directed by the state chairman, to intimate the DSS about this issue and personally submitted.
