Ganduje’s Corruption Case Files Targeted in Kano High Court Attack- Govt

The Kano State Government has stated that protesters who stormed the Kano State High Court, causing significant damage, stole vital documents related to corruption allegations against former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Governor Abba Kabir  inspected the damage firsthand, joined by senior judiciary officials.

According to the governor’s spokesperson, Governor Yusuf believes the incident was a deliberate attempt to undermine ongoing corruption cases against Ganduje, who currently leads the All Progressives Congressive government.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Acting National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, and aides,” the statement read.

The vandals caused widespread destruction within the High Court, targeting multiple units including the Chief Judge’s office.

The estimated cost of the damage exceeds one billion naira, with stolen equipment, ravaged offices, and burned vehicles and materials essential to the justice system.

Governor Yusuf appealed to Kano’s youth to resist being manipulated into violence, encouraging them to pursue skill-building for a brighter future instead.

“I urge our youth to resist being used as tools for violence. The future is in your hands, and you should concentrate on skills acquisition for a better tomorrow,” the governor said.

He assured the public that the judiciary, as the last hope of the common man, would be protected at all costs. He directed the immediate rehabilitation of the court building and the deployment of enhanced security measures to ensure effective justice delivery.

“We will not relent in securing the lives and property of the people of Kano State. The judiciary must be protected to ensure justice for all,” he stated.

Governor Yusuf offered his condolences to Chief Judge Dije Abdu Aboki and the entire judiciary for the unfortunate incident, encouraging them to remain steadfast and committed to upholding justice despite the challenging circumstances.

“I commiserate with the Chief Judge and the entire judiciary. We must brace up to cover what was lost in the court proceedings for the benefit of the common man,” he added.

In conclusion, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the people of Kano for their ongoing support and collaboration with his administration, and offered prayers for the state’s continued peace, stability, prosperity, and economic growth in the state.
