Stella George Emerges First Female Nigerian Club Growth Director

Stella George, DTM, has made history as the first Nigerian woman elected as Club Growth Director of Toastmasters International District 130, covering 12 countries in West and Central Africa.

Her election was announced during the district’s annual business meeting held in May 2025, as part of the Toastmasters District 130 Annual Conference in Niamey.

In a press release on Monday, Kachi Nwachukwu, Admin, Club Growth Directorate, District 130, said, “Her emergence marks a milestone not just for Nigeria, but for the entire region, reflecting the progress and inclusivity within the Toastmasters community.”

George, a seasoned banker, leadership consultant, and certified communicator, is widely known within Toastmasters for her dedication and outstanding service. She previously served as Division E Director, where she earned distinction as the Best Division Director of 2023 in West and Central Africa.

“She was widely recognized as the most outstanding candidate among a pool of competent contenders,” Nwachukwu said. “Congratulations to Stella George, DTM, on this remarkable achievement.”

Her new role will see her lead club development and membership growth efforts across District 130, advancing Toastmasters’ mission of building confident communicators and effective leaders.

The event was attended by top dignitaries, including the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger, further emphasizing the significance of her election.

Toastmasters International, a nonprofit organization founded in 1924, empowers individuals to sharpen public speaking and leadership skills through a global network of clubs. The organization celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024.

With her appointment, Stella George not only breaks new ground for Nigerian women in leadership but also represents a growing wave of diversity and transformation in the global Toastmasters community.
