Osun Election: Supreme Court fixes Tuesday for Adeleke, Oyetola’s case

…Davido hopeful of gov’s victory

By Clement Adeyi

The Supreme Court has fixed tomorrow (Tuesday) for judgment in the appeal filed by former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, against the election of the current governor, Ademola Adeleke.

A five-member panel of the court announced the date after taking arguments from lawyers to the parties involved on Monday.

In his appeal, Oyetola is seeking the reversal of the March 25 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which affirmed Adeleke’s victory in the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.

In its judgement, the Appeal Court had set aside an earlier judgment by the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in favour of Oyetola and asked Adeleke to vacate office.

Popular hip-hop musician and nephew to Governor Adeleke, David Adeleke, fondly called Davido, has expressed optimism on his victory at the Supreme Court tomorrow.

On his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Davido said: “We look forward to the judicial affirmation of AAdeleke (The people’s) mandate.”

“The hardest part is done, winning a free and fair Election. May God let the court do the right thing.”
