Kogi East Elders Congratulate New Army Chief

The Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) has congratulated the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waidi Shaibu.

In a press release signed by the Council’s Chairman, Professor Godwin Ogbadu, and Secretary-General, Chief Dr Rakiya Momoh-Abaji, the KEEC expressed the confidence that the new COAS would rise to the challenge of his new assignment.

The group said, “We, at the Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC), got the amazing news of your recent appointment with great delight. We congratulate you on this well-deserved appointment as the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff.

“We have been following your service records and note how your hard work and dedication to service have been inspirational to many in Kogi East, specifically, Kogi State at large, and Nigeria. Based on your proven track record, we do not doubt that you will excel in this new position.

We also hope and pray for further accomplishments for our great nation, especially at this time of rising national insecurity. Your choice for this position is indeed a round peg in a round hole.”

Major General Waidi Shaibu, born on 18 December 1971, hails from Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State. On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, he was among the service chiefs screened and confirmed by the Senate.

Others included Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, Chief of Air Staff.
