Glasgow 2026: Tobi Amusan Wins Bronze in Women’s 100m Hurdles as Charlton Clinches Commonwealth Gold

Nigeria’s sprint hurdles queen and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, delivered another commendable performance on the international stage, claiming the bronze medal in the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Competing before a packed crowd at Scotstoun Stadium, Amusan crossed the finish line in 12.60 seconds, securing a podium finish for Team Nigeria in one of the Games’ most anticipated track events.

The race was won by Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas, who stormed to victory in 12.33 seconds to claim the Commonwealth title. Jamaica’s Megan Tapper followed closely behind, taking the silver medal with a time of 12.41 seconds.

Although Amusan narrowly missed defending her Commonwealth crown, her bronze medal further underlined her consistency as one of the world’s elite hurdlers and added another accolade to her impressive career.

The 28-year-old Nigerian remains one of Africa’s greatest track athletes, having etched her name into history as the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles. Her performance in Glasgow once again demonstrated her resilience and determination against a highly competitive field featuring some of the world’s fastest hurdlers.

The result also contributes valuable points and another medal to Team Nigeria’s campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, as the country’s athletes continue to chase podium finishes across multiple sporting events.
