AIG Leadership Programme Graduates 69 Senior Officials from Seven Countries

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, in collaboration with the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, has graduated 69 senior public officials from seven African countries under the fifth cohort of the AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP).

The graduation ceremony, held in Abuja on Wednesday, brought together senior government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, faculty members, alumni and the graduating participants drawn from Nigeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.

The six-month executive education programme is designed to equip high-potential public sector leaders with strategic leadership skills, policy expertise and practical tools needed to drive institutional reforms and improve service delivery across Africa.

According to the foundation, the programme combines virtual learning sessions with an intensive residential module, recently completed in Lagos, and culminates in reform projects developed by participants to tackle real institutional challenges within their ministries, departments and agencies.

With the graduation of the latest cohort, the AIG Public Leaders Programme alumni network has grown to more than 300 senior public servants from seven African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, Zambia and Tanzania.

Chairman of the foundation, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening governance and building capable public sector leadership across the continent.

“Transforming public institutions demands leaders who deeply understand systems, embrace necessary trade-offs and drive reform from within. Each member of this graduating cohort represents a deliberate investment in stronger, more accountable institutions and tangible outcomes for citizens across Africa,” he said.

Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, also commended the graduates and the programme’s emphasis on practical, reform-driven leadership in the public sector.

The foundation added that since the programme was launched in 2021, alumni have initiated numerous reforms aimed at improving regulatory systems, strengthening accountability and enhancing public service delivery.
