Floodwaters Wreak Havoc in Northeast, 2 Critical Bridges Collapse, Communities Left Devastated

A devastating flood has struck Shuwa in Madagali local government of Adamawa State, Nigeria, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The disaster has resulted in the collapse of two critical bridges, the Wagga-Madagali Bridge linking Adamawa and Borno States, and the only bridge connecting Shuwa and Gulak town.

In response to the disaster, the Adamawa State Government has commissioned Triacta Road Construction Company to construct a new bridge, with construction set to begin immediately.

The flood has caused significant disruption to transportation and economic activities in the region, highlighting the urgent need for infrastructure development and disaster preparedness measures. Engineer Venjei Bitrus Kambasha, Founder of Dove Foundation, has expressed condolences to the victims and called on relevant stakeholders to provide aid and support to affected communities.

As people take to social media to express their condolences, Kambasha urged the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Nigeria National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to mobilize support and resources to alleviate suffering. “We must come together to help those in need and work towards preventing such disasters in the future,” he said.
