I’m not part of ‘The League of Northern Democrats’ – Tanko Yakasai

Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a prominent Nigerian politician, has denied reports of his involvement with a new political group called “The League of Northern Democrats”.

In a press statement signed on Tuesday, Yakasai said his attention was drawn to a Punch Newspaper online report mentioning his name as part of the group.

“I have been receiving calls and messages from well-meaning Nigerians about my membership of this group, to which I am not a member,” Yakasai said.

“I did not intend to respond to this publication, but it became imperative as the calls and messages kept on pouring in and for the Nigerian populace to get informed about that publication,” he said.

Yakasai emphasised that he is not part of the organisers nor the organization, and urged the general public to disregard the report by Punch Online Media.

“To set the records straight, I urge the general public to disregard such report by Punch Online Media as I’m not apart of the Organisers nor the Organisation,” he stated.
