Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Partners Nigerian Civil Service for Reform

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has announced its role as the Diamond Partner at the inaugural International Civil Service Conference (ICSC), which takes place from June 25–26, 2025, in Abuja.

This partnership strengthens the Foundation’s ongoing collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), aimed at reforming and modernising Nigeria’s public service.

For years, the Foundation has worked closely with the OHCSF to drive systemic change in the civil service. Their joint efforts include the development of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25), support for digital transformation across ministries, and investment in leadership and training programmes for civil servants.

A central focus of this collaboration is building a strong workforce of about 3,000 high-performing civil servants over the next ten years. These individuals will be equipped with the skills and leadership tools necessary to create lasting improvements in governance and service delivery.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice Chair of the Foundation said, “This collaboration reflects our belief in the power of a world-class Civil Service to shape Africa’s future. The Foundation remains committed to building a public sector that truly delivers for all Africans.”
The conference is part of the 2025 Civil Service Week celebrations.

A key highlight this year is the expansion of the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Endowment Fund. The Foundation-backed initiative recognises civil servants who show excellence, integrity, and innovation.

Two new awards have been introduced: the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award, with a ₦500,000 prize, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation EPIC Award, offering ₦250,000. To date, the Fund has awarded over ₦50 million to 111 outstanding civil servants.

In addition to awards and recognition, the Foundation has been instrumental in digitising the operations of the OHCSF. This transformation has inspired several ministries, departments, and agencies to follow suit. To scale this progress, the Foundation has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with multiple ministries to deepen digitalisation across the public sector.

The ICSC is expected to bring together leaders from across Africa to share ideas, innovations, and strategies for strengthening governance. It also positions Nigeria at the forefront of civil service reform efforts on the continent.
