Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Opens Applications for Sixth PLP Cohort

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has opened applications for the sixth cohort of its flagship AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP), a six-month executive education initiative aimed at strengthening public sector leadership across Africa.

The Foundation disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The programme, delivered by the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, is designed to equip high-potential public servants with the tools, networks and strategic insight needed to drive institutional reform.

According to the foundation, applications are open to qualified public servants from all English-speaking African countries and will close on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The sixth cohort will commence in October 2026.

Since its launch in 2021, the AIG PLP has recorded measurable impact across public institutions on the continent.

Alumni have designed and implemented more than 230 reform projects within their ministries, departments and agencies. An impact survey cited by the foundation shows that 62 per cent of alumni have earned promotions or assumed expanded leadership roles after completing the programme.

“Across Africa, the complexity of public sector challenges demands more than good intentions. It requires reformers who understand systems, can navigate institutional realities, and are equipped to implement sustainable change. The AIG PLP is designed to meet this need,” said Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.

Highlighting the programme’s real-world outcomes, the foundation referenced the work of a PLP alumna, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Lagos State DSVA, who launched a secure self-reporting tool enabling survivors of domestic and sexual abuse to safely document incidents and preserve evidence.

Survivors are already accessing support through the platform, which ensures that crucial proof is protected until justice can be sought. The initiative is one of over 230 reform projects being implemented across sectors including healthcare, finance, agriculture and education.

“We are seeing proof every day that investing in the capacity and leadership potential of people, delivers the kind of transformation that policy alone cannot achieve,” Aig-Imoukhuede added.

The AIG PLP adopts a blended learning format, combining online sessions with an intensive residential module. The programme is offered at no cost to selected participants, with the foundation covering tuition, accommodation and feeding during the residential component.

Participants receive direct access to faculty from the University of Oxford and are trained to address core governance challenges such as negotiating in the public interest, harnessing digital technology for governance, strengthening public organisations and upholding integrity in public life.

The curriculum culminates in a capstone reform project, requiring participants to apply their learning to a real-world institutional challenge, ensuring that the training translates into actionable solutions.
