3 Killed, 8 Injured in Adamawa State Farmers-Herders Clash

A renewed clash between farmers and herders in Kodomun Community, Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has resulted in the deaths of three people and left eight others critically injured.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje, a combined security team has been dispatched to the area, restoring normalcy with no arrests made so far.

This recurring conflict has claimed numerous lives and destroyed livestock and properties worth millions of naira over time. The recent escalation was allegedly triggered by the killing of a youth in Kodomun by suspected herders, spreading the crisis to neighboring communities.
At an enlarged meeting, the Executive Chairman of Demsa Local Government Council, Akham Jalo, and His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke appealed for calm and urged stakeholders to find a lasting solution.
They blamed both parties for concealing the truth and warned of punishment for those involved.

The leaders directed the warring groups to identify culprits and submit names for prosecution, emphasizing that identifying principal suspects would deter others from taking the law into their hands.
Chairman Akham Jalo expressed concern about the crisis, warning that his administration would not compromise Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s peace initiative.
He assured collaboration with traditional rulers, security agencies, Ardos, and farmers to resolve the crisis and appealed to community leaders to work towards lasting peace.
